Some sessions instantly remind me why I love getting to photograph families year after year. This repeat family chose a camping theme for this year’s photos, complete with tent snuggles, a crackling campfire, s’mores, and lots of laughter. It was the perfect mix of fun, personality, and togetherness.

Unique activities like this are one of my favorite ways to keep photos fresh as your family grows. They not only create beautiful images but also memories you’ll talk about for years. This session was no exception.

Playtime + Posing

We balanced a few posed portraits with plenty of time simply playing. Running around the campsite, roasting marshmallows, exploring, laughing. These organic moments always bring out the best expressions and most heartfelt memories.

Big sister stepped confidently into her role as the cool older sibling. Little brother leaned all the way into chaos and fun. Mom and dad loved every minute of it.

S’mores… and a Sword Fight

No camping session would be complete without s’mores, of course. But this took it up a notch — at one point, mom and little brother launched into a full-on s’mores stick sword fight.

Absolute comedic gold.
And yes, we got photos. Lots of them.

These silly moments tell such an honest story of family life: playful, imperfect, joyful, and full of heart.

Tent Snuggles

We spent part of the session cozied up in the family tent, snuggled in blankets with soft fading light wrapping around them. Big sister and little brother tucked in with mom and dad for sweet, relaxed moments.

We also took the time to make shadow puppets once it was dark enough.

Why I Love Activity-Based Sessions
