It’s time for another edition of Myth Busting Mondays!
Today’s Myth: You need to be, look and feel perfect to take family photos.
ERRRR! Wrong 🛑🙅🏻♀️We are going to stop that thought process right in its tracks. Remember last week when I asked my followers if you felt pressure to be perfect at/for photos? 63% of you said YES! And I am here to convince you otherwise.
First and foremost, let me tell you: BOY DO I GET IT. I have seen so many photos of myself over the years and thought YUCK. I look big or my hair is frizzy or I hate my nose. But honestly? Now? I look back at those same photos and think why was I so hard on myself, I actually look great!! MORE IMPORTANTLY though, I look back on those photos and think: wow, I am so grateful to have these moments and memories with my favorite people captured.
At the end of the day, try to remember: your kids don’t care what you look like. They don’t care if you didn’t lose those 10 extra pounds before your shoot. They don’t care that your hair wasn’t perfect. What they will want to remember years from now is how you looked at them with love and awe. And how you played with them. And how your face scrunched up so perfectly when you laughed with them.
To them, you – with all of your beautiful flaws and imperfections – you are home. And they will want photos that bring them right back home ❤️
So don’t let these special moments and stages pass you by because you’re not feeling like your best self. Book the photos and don’t look back!
