Why you don’t have to take newborn photos immediately after birth | Washington, DC Newborn Photographer

I know you’ve likely heard that you *HAVE TO* take newborn photos in the first 2 weeks of your baby’s life.

I disagree! Here’s why:

1. Babies that are a bit older can *actually* smile – and it’s NOT gas!

2. Babies are a bit chunkier and who doesn’t love some yummy baby chunk 😍

3. Siblings have had more time to bond with their new baby brother or sister and therefore, the photos are typically less forced and the siblings are *excited* to interact with baby.

4. Everyone is feeling a liiiittle less exhausted (still exhausted – but not that first-few-weeks-of-having-a-newborn exhausted. Know what I mean? 😅)

So don’t fret if you’re overwhelmed with the idea of taking newborn photos immediately after baby is born – we can still get 💖 heart-melting 💖 photos even if you want to wait a couple of months!

All that said, my books are open for BOTH newborn and in-home family sessions for February – May 2024 in the Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland areas. Shoot me an email and let’s chat about a potential newborn session!
