Spring Family Photos: What to Expect | Washington DC Family Photographer

Hey there, lovely Washington DC and Northern Virginia families!

Are you ready to capture some beautiful moments beneath the blossoms?! Here’s a little sneak peek of what you can expect as a Mary Catherine Photography family.

Let The Fun Begin!

Forget the traditional, stiff photoshoot vibes. I’m all about turning our time together into a memory-making adventure. From playing games to goofy prompts and even laughing at my questionable jokes, we’re creating art while having a blast. Your family’s unique dynamic is the star, and I’ll be there to capture every genuine moment.

Say goodbye to perfect poses and perfectly behaved kids. We’re after authenticity! A few formal family shots at the beginning, and then? Let go and let loose. Your relaxed energy will set the tone, making for even better photos. No need to stress – imperfection is where the magic happens.

Short Attention Spans? No Problem! Kids being kids is all part of the fun. I love breaking out into smaller groups during the session, capturing the unique bonds between different family members. It’s a win-win – it gives others a chance to recharge while creating beautiful, intimate moments.

Location, Location, Location

I want your session location to reflect your family’s unique interests and personality! Fill out my short questionnaire, and I’ll tailor a list of recommendations just for you. Optimal shooting times for an outdoor session? Two hours after sunrise or two hours before sunset for that soft, golden, magical light. Cloudy days? Perfect! Soft, even lighting awaits.

Essentials for a Seamless Family Photo Session

  • Wipes: Because drool, boogers, and dirt are part of the adventure!
  • Water + Snacks: The secret to happy, cooperative kiddos. Goldfish have magical powers!
  • Toys + Books: Bring the favorites! They might end up in the photos, but that’s part of the charm.
  • Jacket/Sweater: Just in case the weather decides to throw us a surprise.
  • Lipstick/Lip Gloss/Chapstick: Opt for gloss or chapstick to avoid lipstick mishaps on cheeks or shared smooches.
  • Hair Ties, Bobby Pins, Barrettes, Headbands: Especially for the little ladies on blustery days!
